For some of the things that PP cannot do and there is not many, I rely on a book by Scott Kelby. His CS5 Bible or Portrait Books are amazing.

Good day! I think just put the Lip Gloss or Lip Shiner to your model so that it will have nice effect or if your not still satisfied you can edit it. Yeah I agree with you that's not good to look at if your model had a dry lips.
