Canon EOS 5D MkIII - thoughts and advice
#1
HI

I have an EOS 5D MK II which I have found to be more than adequate for portrait photography and I noticed, whilst browsing around Jessops the other day looking at printers that the new EOS 5D MKIII is now out. Looking at the description and features on their page - http://www.jessops.com/online.store/prod.../show.html
I can't really see whether it is worth upgrading to the MKIII. I am pretty lucky in that I have a good budget for cameras but I am no expert re the hardware and have relied on the advice of others on what is best for portrait and photography - hence the MKII so if anyone out there is a real boffin on camera specs and the differences between the MKII and MKIII I would appreciate an opinion.

thanks

I have heard some complaints about the MK 2...focusing, I believe. And exposure? (not so sure about that one).

I would say check to see if you think those things have been addressed as part of your research.

Then check out the new features and see if they are of use to you. I saw an ISO (low light) test on DPReview that wasn't too bad.

I might also say that if it is your hobby and you have money to spend without worry, then don't worry. Otherwise, it's a business decision if that's your income.

I used to be a Canon person. Now I'm an NEX person. Wink

i have the 5Dm3, and love it!...however...portrait pro does NOT work properly with the RAW files. it basically hangs PS (mac), and forces you to quit, thus losing your work...not fun.

If you are having situations with the software, the members of the forum need more information to assist with correcting that situation.
1. How much memory is installed.
2. Exactly what are the steps that you are doing while in PP up till it hangs.
3. What version of PP are you running?
