Portrait Professional automatically determines which areas of the picture are skin. This is the area that will be affected by the skin and skin lighting sliders. For some pictures, Portrait Professional may not get the skin area exactly right, so you should always check the skin area and fix it if necessary.
To check and fix the skin area:
Press the Show Skin Controls button to open the Skin Controls section, or the Show Skin Lighting Controls button to open the Skin Lighting Controls section.
Click the View/Edit Skin Area button at the top of the controls. This will switch to the skin area selection tools. The skin area will be shown as a translucent blue overlay over the enhanced image. If this color does not make it easy to see the skin area in your picture, you can choose another color from the drop down list.
If the skin area is wrong, you can manually adjust it using the Skin Area Brushes.
You can also get Portrait Professional to recalculate the skin area by clicking on the Recalculate Skin Area button. This will bring up the Skin Area dialog.
Press the OK button to return to the slider controls.

I open an image and select Enhance Skin Only" this opens the "Skin Selection Tools". I then go to the top menu and select "Full Body Skin" after selecting the "Change Skin Selection Area" there are 4 options. If I say select "Standard Neckline" and "OK" I see no "Recalculate Skin Area" button" in the "Skin Selection Tools" or anywhere else. That is what I am looking for. What am I missing? THANKS.
One more thing, when PP is open it now takes over my desktop and I am unable to reduce the window or move it up/down/sideways. I must have changes a setting?

Hi Andy,
In enhance skin only mode, you can only use the brush to select the skin I am afraid the 'change skin selection area' does not apply here. This should not be enabled, we are fixing this.

The automatic skin detector works by finding skin near and of the same colour as the face you have marked up. That's why it doesn't work when you are in skin only mode. Try enabling the "skip to last step" button (in settings) and quickly do the first 5 points then press the fast forward button. That might get you to the result you want the quickest because it can automatically find skin from the little information you give about the face, but doesn't require a full markup. The skin only mode is mainly intended for cases where there isn't a face in shot.
As for crashes, open a support ticket and we can see if we can reproduce then fix them.

I just purchased this product and like it so far. One question, I have a photo in which the model's hair falls over her face. When I try to work with the image the program adds a kinky line through the part of the hair that is on her face. How can I prevent this from happening.

That is caused by the face sculpting. If they have hair covering their face, they you will have to try playing with the face sculpting sliders to get a good trade off between improving shape and keeping the hair straight.
